The Pacifying Police Unit (UPP) in the Pavão-Pavãozinho-Cantagalo (PPG) complex was installed on December 23, 2009. The UPP, part of a pacification program in Rio de Janeiro, aimed to combat drug trafficking and bring public services to the communities, in addition to ensuring greater security for residents.

The history of the PPG, also known as the Cantagalo-Pavão-Pavãozinho favela complex, is complex and dates back to the pre-republican period of Rio de Janeiro. The region, located on the border between Ipanema and Copacabana, has a strong spatial identity with its communities.


Saint-Roman Street, located in the Copacabana neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro, is a quiet, residential street known for its views and tranquility. It overlooks the sea and mountains, creating a serene environment. The street was created in the 1940s and was initially inhabited by wealthy families from Rio. However, with the favela process, many of these families left the street, but with the pacification, the street had a second life. CLEANING • We charge a one-time cleaning fee. The apartment will be cleaned upon arrival, and fresh towels will be provided. Reservations of 7 nights or more: You will receive an additional mid-stay cleaning free of charge: we will fully clean the apartment, change the sheets, and provide new towels. Just like hotel services. GUESTS • The number of guests must be indicated on the reservation request. Adding more guests after the reservation is only permitted by agreement. VISITORS • Any additional guests on the property are the guest's responsibility. Some properties do not accept visitors, and this may be grounds for eviction from the property with no refund possible. CANCELLATION • The cancellation policy is a "strict policy." Guests can find the cancellation policy on their reservation confirmation. LIABILITY • All properties are privately owned; the owners are not responsible for any accidents, injuries, or illnesses that occur on the premises. The owners are not responsible for the loss of guests' personal belongings or valuables. The guest will be responsible for any fines incurred due to violations of any law, agreement, or internal regulations of the building in which the apartment is located. Payment of the fine must be made prior to departure, as soon as the owners are notified of the reason and amount of the fine. REASONS FOR EVICTION • If the guest has problems with the police related to illegal drugs or any other illegal behavior in Brazil, the owners will be unable to assist the guest in any way and will proceed to evict the guest immediately, without refund. Reasons for eviction: • Breach of contract terms • Disturbing neighbors, loud parties, prostitution, negligence, drugs, property damage, or any other harmful behavior. • No parties or loud noises should be held after 10:00 p.m. (Brazilian law states that loud noises must stop by 10:00 p.m.). • In the event of eviction, the guest will receive notification from the doorman or the owner. It's important to note that for monthly reservations, the cost of electricity is calculated based on the customer's consumption at the end of each month.
