Rio Fashion Week returns in April and is expected to generate R$ 200 million for the Rio economy

After years without a major fashion week, Rio de Janeiro returns to the national calendar with the debut of Rio Fashion Week (RIOFW), which takes place between 15 and 18 April, with the official opening event on the 14th.

The City Council expects the event to generate more than R$ 200 million in the local economy, as well as creating around 8,000 direct and indirect jobs. The projected media coverage could reach R$ 1 billion in spontaneous media, increasing the city's international visibility.

Where will Rio Fashion Week 2026 take place?

The first edition of RIOFW will be held at Pier Mauá, one of the most iconic venues in Rio de Janeiro's port area.

The event will occupy three warehouses at Pier Mauá and also the historic Touring Club do Brasil, a recently revitalised Art Deco building in the region.

The choice of location reinforces the cultural appreciation of the port area, which in recent years has established itself as a venue for major events in the city.

What happens during a fashion week?

More than just catwalks, Rio Fashion Week was conceived as a creative hub connecting fashion, business and culture.

Throughout the programme, the public and industry professionals will be able to follow:

  • - fashion shows by major Brazilian brands
  • - debates and talks with international guests
  • - business lounge and trade rounds
  • - networking area for industry professionals
  • - exhibitions and gastronomic experiences

The event is organised by IMM, a company responsible for major events in the country, such as the Rio Open and the Taste Festival.

Which brands have already confirmed their presence at Rio Fashion Week?

Around 20 brands from different regions of Brazil have already confirmed their participation in the first edition of the event.

Among them:

Adidas

Blueman

Osklen

Lenny

Patricia Viera

Isabela Capeto

Misci

Salinas

Apartamento 03

Handred

The programme will also feature three Brazilian season debuts, including designer Karoline Vitto, who regularly presents her collections at London Fashion Week.

Brazilian fashion calendar gains new momentum

With the creation of RIOFW, the national fashion calendar now operates in a complementary manner to São Paulo Fashion Week, which will continue to be concentrated in the second half of the year.

The proposal is to expand Brazil's presence on the international fashion circuit, with two capitals playing leading roles at different times on the global calendar.

Fashion, creative economy and Rio's international profile

The resumption of a major fashion week reinforces a broader movement to strengthen the creative economy in Rio de Janeiro.

Events of this scale mobilise not only the fashion industry, but also sectors such as tourism, hospitality, gastronomy, cultural production, and entertainment. For the city, it means greater international visibility and a new showcase for talent and businesses linked to creativity.

By bringing together fashion shows, networking and commercial opportunities in a single space, Rio Fashion Week was created with the ambition of repositioning Rio among the major fashion stages — and reinforcing the city's role as one of Latin America's most vibrant cultural centres.

The city as a stage for style and creativity

The staging of Rio Fashion Week reinforces a historical characteristic of Rio de Janeiro: its ability to transform landscape, lifestyle, and culture into creative expression. Between the sea, architecture, and urban energy, the city has always functioned as a natural showcase for Brazilian fashion.

At Horizon Rio, we closely follow these movements that connect culture, design, and lifestyle — elements that make Rio not only a global tourist destination, but also one of the most desirable property markets in the country. Events such as RIOFW reinforce this positioning, projecting the city internationally and celebrating everything that makes living in Rio a unique experience.
