Shakira to Headline “Todo Mundo no Rio” at Copacabana Beach
The City of Rio de Janeiro has confirmed that Shakira will be the international headliner of the “Todo Mundo no Rio” event, scheduled for May 2 at Copacabana Beach. The Colombian artist is expected to take the stage at 9:45 PM, in a show that will be broadcast by TV Globo and sponsored by Corona.
The event will also feature an opening act, to be announced in the coming days. Production is handled by Bonus Track, the company responsible for major international concerts held in the city.
The confirmation follows weeks of speculation on social media and international touring platforms. Expectations intensified after Mayor Eduardo Paes posted a video of the singer, hinting at negotiations. The information was later confirmed by national media outlets.
World Tour and Return to Brazil
Shakira is currently touring Latin America with the “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour” marking a new phase in her career alongside the release of her latest album. In 2025, she launched the world leg of the tour at Estádio Nilton Santos in Rio de Janeiro, after eight years without performing in Brazil.
The Copacabana concert further strengthens her recent connection with the city and is expected to attract audiences from different Brazilian states and Latin American countries, reinforcing Rio as a strategic stop on international entertainment circuits.
Shakira, Shakira
With more than 30 years of career, Shakira has built a repertoire that transcends borders and languages. From “Estoy Aquí” and “Pies Descalzos” to global hits such as “Whenever, Wherever”, “Hips Don’t Lie”, “Waka Waka”, and more recently “BZRP Music Sessions #53”, she has consolidated her position as one of the biggest names in Latin music worldwide.
Her relationship with Brazil dates back to the 1990s. In 1997, during the “Pies Descalzos” tour, she performed in Uberlândia (MG) at an agricultural fair, with tickets priced at approximately R$ 5. At the time, Shakira was just beginning her international expansion, with black hair and a predominantly young audience.
Nearly three decades later, the same artist returns with a global-scale production, tickets reaching hundreds of reais, and performances in stadiums and large public venues. The contrast highlights the magnitude of her journey, from regional stages to international mega-events.
Now, with Copacabana as her backdrop, Shakira performs at one of the most recognized landmarks on the planet, reinforcing Rio de Janeiro’s position as a stage for major spectacles and a strategic center in the global cultural agenda.
Copacabana as a Global Stage
Hosting the event at Copacabana Beach consolidates the waterfront’s vocation for large-scale open-air events. In recent years, the location has welcomed historic performances such as Madonna in 2024 and Lady Gaga in 2025, gathering millions of people and receiving extensive international media coverage.
The recurring choice of the beach for events of this magnitude is no coincidence. The combination of an iconic landscape, consolidated hotel infrastructure, accessibility, and a tradition of large-scale events positions Copacabana as one of the world’s most recognized urban settings.
Economic and Urban Impacts
International events of this scale generate direct effects on the city’s economy. Increased hotel occupancy, higher activity in bars and restaurants, strengthened local commerce, and growth in demand for temporary services are among the main impacts observed in previous editions.
Beyond the immediate impact, the international exposure generated by broadcasts and circulating images of the waterfront contributes to strengthening the Rio de Janeiro brand globally, stimulating tourism and investment.
The realization of large-scale public events also highlights the city’s logistical capacity to organize international productions, involving urban planning, security, mobility, and coordination between the public and private sectors.
Culture, Image and Appreciation
The “Todo Mundo no Rio” project has been consolidating itself as a strategic asset for the city’s cultural positioning. By bringing together globally renowned artists in one of the country’s most emblematic landmarks, Rio reaffirms its identity as the cultural capital of Latin America.
The visibility generated by these events expands the city’s international recognition and reinforces attributes such as lifestyle, landscape, and urban dynamism — factors that directly influence the perceived value of the territory.
With Shakira’s confirmation, Copacabana once again takes center stage globally, in a movement that combines entertainment, international projection, and economic strengthening.
